Westernport Whiting
Westernport has still been fishing well for whiting for those who are out in search of them. The top end of the port has been where most of the reports have been coming from, down to around the bottom of the spit. As you can imagine there have been good numbers of school sized fish getting around.

Customer John fished with mate Lochie for whiting out from Hastings. The boys have been finding plenty of school fish between Hastings and Stony Point and hopping along the banks in around 3m of water. Pipi and squid have been the most effective baits for them.
Customer Michael cught some nice Whiting fishing around the cut on the middle spit. Fishing the lead up to the flood tide was the best time, with fresh mussel being the most effective bait.

Customer Chris has been catching some nice whiting and squid from similar grounds off Tyabb. Chris has caught some squid in close on the shallow banks, with a few whiting in the same area. Moving deeper around eagle rock and fishing the slower stage of the tide Chris caught some larger whiting and a nice table sized gummy. Strips of squid have been super successful for him.
