Snapper slowly starting
Snapper season is upon us! Not long now until the tide of red is being experienced by many in both bays. While the fish are still a good few weeks off biting really well – there have still been anglers out putting in the yards in search of these fish. If you’re hanging for a snapper at the moment, the upper/Eastern reaches of Westernport are worth the effort, as is the northern end of Port Phillip.

Customer Ken has been getting into the reds out in Westernport again. Ken has been fishing the top end of the port around the Tyabb region and just recently where he had a 3 way hook up and bag on fish between 4.5 and 4.8kg. Ken has been fishing a mixture of baits including trevaly fillet and squid. The run in tide fished best for Ken in a depth of 15m.

Customer Sachin has started fishing for snapper from the shores of Port Phillip. After purchasing a new shore casting outfit, Sachin went out and landed a couple of nice school snapper. Sachin fished from the shore along Brighton after a strong onshore wind for his success. Double snelled pilchards were the best baits.
