Eildon trout fishing still great

The Eildon region has been fishing great for anglers out in search of their trout fix. The pondage has been providing a few fish or two, while the Goulburn river has still been fishing well. The section of river from around the Breakaway through to the Rubicon junction has been excellent for those fishing lures.

Customer Jozef fished Eildon just recently with his wife, where they enjoyed the spoils with some nice trout being caught. Jozef fished a coarse method around the Thornton section of the river, using ‘specialist trout’ pellet berley in conjunction with multiple colours of powerbait dough. Adding the powerbait gel scent to the dough mixture also helped in creating a tackier consistency, which was much more effective at staying on the hook.

Compleat Angler head office coordinator Jarrod fished up around the Goulburn and adjacent rivers with his daughter Kyla over the weekend. Kyla was well and truly the winner on the day, with small jerkbaits fishing the best in amongst the broken water. The Daiwa Phantom-X and TMS combo proved excellent in providing the accuracy and action needed to present the lures in the right water to get a bite from the trout.

Customers Luke and Nick fished the Goulburn river over the weekend, where they enjoyed an overnight hike and camp out in search of some less fished water. The boys caught some ripper trout, with nearly all caught on a mixture of hardbodies. The best performing hardbodies were shallow running jerkbaits like the Luckycraft Flash Minnow, with flashy foiled trout patterns proving the best.
