The insane action offshore continues again this week, with a heap of mega tuna up to 160kg caught just offshore from both bays. While the fish have been spread from around Kilcunda, most of the reports are coming from around Gunnamatta through to Torquay and Barwon Heads.

Customer Steve and mates have landed some nice barrel tuna recently, fishing out of Barwon Heads. Steve has found the fish ranging in size from 90kg through to around 125kg. Fishing out towards the 70m line has been the hot zone. Skirts in the 12 inch size range have been the go, with redbait, ‘paris’ and ‘king don’ colour schemes all successful.

Customer John went out from Hastings in search of a barrel this week after getting a couple of reels re-spooled. John fished out from Cape Schank and had to enlist the help of a mate after getting a double hookup on barrels. Fishing colours such as ‘big dog’ and ‘lumo’ around the spreader bar got the action from the fish.

Customer Martin came in to the store to and purchased two new tuna outfits and spent some time learning how to rig effectively. Martin went out from Barwon to the 75m area and landed his first barrel. Needless he’s stoked and so are we!
