WPB Whiting going well

Westernport’s whiting have been going well recently. Most anglers have reported good catches of fish from the top end past Joe’s Island all the way around to the sand holes off Somers and Flinders.

Customer Jade fished out in the port with his two boys who had a ball on the whiting. Amongst the whiting the boys caught some nice pinkies and trevally. The best area was around Tankerton in between 5 – 8m. Small moves and re-deploying the berley pot kept the fish coming, with the best baits being squid and pippies.

Staff members Don and John have both been out on the whiting in Westernport recently. Both have found good numbers of fish up the top end of the bay. The channel edges out from Warneet and Blind Bight have been the best areas for them to fish, in depths of 3 – 5m. Fishing the last of the run in tide and early stages of the run out has been the most productive, with pipi, squid and pilchard cocktails the best baits.
