Murray cod still chewing

The cod fishing has been great in most of the rivers, with water levels now fairly stable. The recent high-water events that have washed down many native rivers have carried plenty of food, and a lot of the fish have been in noticeably good condition. Both bait and lure fishing has been productive, with the only difference in choice being choosing the more suitable option for the water that you’re fishing.

Customer Rich has been camping up around Wangaratta and having a fish for cod while he’s there. Rich has luckily had a nice patch of river right behind where he has been camping, so he’s been able to go for a walk and flick lures along with sit and bait fish. Rich ended up catching some very nice cod, with two being Murray cod and one a trout cod. Spinnerbaits in 1/2oz and a mixture of yabbies and scrubworms worked well for Rich.
