Local suburban trout

If you live in the South Eastern suburbs and are still fancying a feed of trout, or just want to get to a local lake and relax – there have been plenty of trout still on offer amongst the stocked suburban lakes. Karkarook, Casey Fields and Berwick Springs have all been producing ‘stockies’ on both bait and lure, with the odd stonker still coming out.

Fishing specialist dough baits and powerbait in amongst a pellet berley is a sure fire way to see some action, while the lure options have been a bit more varied. Spoon style lures have been great to fish in windy conditions, while small ‘smelt’ style soft plastics and shallow crankbaits have been catching a few in more favourable conditions.

Customer Paul landed a ripper rainbow down at Casey Fields recently amongst a couple of smaller fish. Paul was fishing an ever faithful Tassie Devil when he hooked the chunky rainbow.

Customer Jason was fishing down in Patterson River just recently in search of bream when you hooked and landed a rainbow trout. Jason caught the lost trout on a small soft plastic grub intended for a bream. The trout was quite healthy and measured 45cm and fought super hard apparently.
