Another week of quality tuna fishing

Plenty of tuna being caught locally! There have been good numbers of fish caught from slightly West of Barwon heads, through to the Eastern side of Wilson’s Prom. Lots of fish. While the numbers of fish have been great, they can be flighty to get amongst. The main thing to remember is to pack a variety of gear, lures and teasers. The ‘hot’ lure isn’t always hot the next trip out – so having backup options will always prove the winner.

Customer George fished out from Inverloch last week in search of tuna. George fished back towards Cape Paterson, where he caught on both hardbodies and small skirts.

Customer Jade fished out from Port Phillip Heads with some mates during the week. Jade got stuck into the fish off Barwon heads in 50m, with small skirts providing most of the action. Small skirts in the 5 inch size range have been the best performers, with ghost colour patterns matching the whitebait.

Customer Luke fished with a mate for tuna out from the Eastern entrance last week. The boys went out and got a bag of nice fish trolling both hardbodies and skirts. Fishing out towards Kilcunda in 40m was the area for the boys.

Customer Mark fished with mate Jim out from Port Phillip heads last week where they caught tuna. Mark and Jim fished out towards Barwon and got their fish early in the day. Fishing small 5 inch skirts behind a daisy chain teaser was the most effective method.
