Local lake trout going well

The suburban stocked lakes have still been producing trout after the school holiday stocking top up. While the fish are a little more clued on and trickier to catch than when they are initially stocked, they can still be fooled using a variety of methods. Both lures and bait work well, if used in the correct methods.

Customer Christian has been fishing Karkarook Park over the past weeks and has been catching trout on his ultralight baitcast outfit. Christian has been using a variety of small spoons and plastics, with the micro spoon working well when fished ultra slow and deep off the drop offs. Retro fitting any of the spoons with light gauge single hooks or assist hooks has also helped in keeping the trout hooked when they start to jump.

Customer Nick took the boys down to Karkarook Park over the weekend in search of a few rainbow trout. Fishing the area near the jetty the boys scored some trout on a mixture of coarse baits. Fishing a custom powerbait mix and also pre made trout dough led to the capture of all the fish.
